MEETING AGENDA

The School Board publishes complete and summary versions of its meeting agendas. The summary agenda for the next Board meeting is provided below. Citizens may also receive the summary version by mail by calling the Department of Information Services at 995-1126.

The complete agenda may be reviewed by visiting the Citizen Information Center in room 158 of the School Board Administration Building, 1450 NE 2nd Avenue, weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Telephone 305-995-1128.

The agenda for regular meetings is published on the Wednesday prior to the Board meeting. The summary agenda will normally be posted here on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Revisions will generally be posted on Friday, and Tuesday PM prior to the meeting. To view a history of changes to the Agenda click here.

Speakers Supplemental List will generally be posted on Tuesday PM or Wednesday AM prior to the meeting.

PURPOSE: To discuss and consider the Superintendent's Employment Agreement and the School Board Attorney's Contract. There may be action by the Board on other items such as Personnel, Finance, and other programs. This Special Meeting conducted by The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, is provided in accordance with Section 1001.372, Florida Statutes. An agenda will be available by 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. A citizen wishing to speak to the agenda should submit a written request to the Superintendent of Schools, Room 158, 1450 N.E. SP-1 ISSUANCE OF A REQUEST FOR BID AND APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION 08-89 PROVIDING FOR ISSUANCE OF UP TO $180 MILLION TAX ANTICIPATION NOTES, SERIES 2008

RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida authorize the issuance of Request For Bid and approve Resolution 08-89 providing for issuance of up to $180 million of Tax Anticipation Notes, Series 2008.

SP-2 RECEIVE FROM THE SPECIAL COUNSEL HIS STATUS REPORT OR OPINION AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE SCHOOL BOARD ATTORNEY'S CONTRACT

ACTION PROPOSED BY MR. AGUSTIN J. BARRERA, CHAIR: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, receive the Special Counsel's status report and opinion and recommended resolution, if any, with respect to the School Board Attorney's contract, and adopt said resolution if determined to be appropriate.

SP-3 RATIFICATION OF CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

ACTION PROPOSED BY MR. AGUSTlN J. BARRERA, CHAIR: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida approve the Superintendent of Schools' employment agreement and employ Alberto Carvalho as its Superintendent of Schools in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.
