PURPOSE: Call for a $1.2 billion General Obligation Bond election to be submitted to the qualified electors of the School District of Miami-Dade County, Florida. There may be action by the Board on other items such as Finance and other programs. This Special Meeting conducted by The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, is provided in accordance with Section 1001.372, Florida Statutes. An agenda will be available by 4:00 p. m., on August 13, 2012. A citizen wishing to speak to the agenda should submit a written request to the Citizen Information Center, Room 158, 1450 N. E. Second Avenue, Miami, Florida 33132, by noon on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. For further information, telephone Citizen Information Center 305-995-1128.

The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, seeks public input and participation. However, the public purpose is not served when citizens become disorderly or disrupt the meeting. Accordingly, the Chair may order the removal from any School Board meeting of any person interfering with the expeditious or orderly process of the meeting provided the Chair has first issued a warning that continued interference with the orderly processes of the meeting will result in removal. Any law enforcement authority or a sergeant-at-arms designated by Chair shall remove any person ordered removed pursuant to this section §1001.372 (3), Fla.Stat.

SP-1 APPROVE RESOLUTION 12-133 CALLING FOR A BOND ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 6, 2012, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE DULY QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, A QUESTION REGARDING THE ISSUANCE OF GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS IN AN AGGREGATE AMOUNT NOT EXCEEDING $1.2 BILLION TO FINANCE A PLAN TO MODERNIZE AND CONSTRUCT SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE DISTRICT, INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES; PROVIDING FOR PROPER NOTICE OF SUCH ELECTION AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE

RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, approve Resolution 12-133, calling for a bond election to be held on November 6, 2012, for the purpose of submitting to the duly qualified electors of the school district of Miami-Dade County, Florida, a question regarding the issuance of General Obligation Bonds in an aggregate amount not exceeding $1.2 billion to finance a plan to modernize and construct schools throughout the district, including technology upgrades; providing for proper notice of such election and providing an effective date.
