MACARTHUR SOUTH SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL
Since May 1985, the Board
has leased approximately 12 acres of the playfield area at Miami Douglas MacArthur
South Senior High School located north of S.W. 80 Terrace to Miami-Dade County
(County), for use for public recreational purposes in conjunction with the adjacent
County-owned Kendall Indian Hammocks Park (see Exhibit A).

On November 17, 1999, the
School Board suspended teacher Yvonne M. Weinstein from her employment with
The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, and initiated dismissal proceedings
against her.
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, enter
its final order in the case of The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida
v. Yvonne M. Weinstein, accepting the recommendation of the Administrative Law
Judge in DOAH Case No. 99-5125 or accepting the exceptions set forth in Respondents
Exceptions to Recommended Order, filed on behalf of the employee on September
26, 2000.
The following instructional
employee has been notified by the Superintendent of Schools that she has failed
to satisfactorily correct identified performance deficiencies during her W-Calendar
Day Performance Probationary period:
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, terminate
the employment contract of the above-referenced instktional employee, effective
November 15,2000, at the close of the workday, pending the outcome of a hearing,
if requested. .

At the Board meeting of
October 11, 2000, the School Board received the recommendations on ethics
from the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Ethics Task Force Committee (Task
Force).
ACTION PROPOSED BY DR MARTA PEREZ: That The School Board of Miami-Dade
County, Florida, direct the Superintendent to:
1) request that the Alliance For Ethical Government assist the School Board in drafting recommended bylaws for the proposed Ethics Commission;
2) present the recommended bylaws to the School Board at the March 14,200l Board meeting.
C-1 REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF AMENDED 2000-2001 SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLANS TO ALIGN WITH BOARD RULE FOR A, B, AND C SCHOOLS CHANGING GRADE LEVELS AS WELL AS OTHER SCHOOLS NEEDING ASSISTANCE AND INTERVENTION PLANS
Due to the late release
of the School Accountability Report by the Florida Department of Education,
certain identified schools have been designated at School Performance Grades
which cause the objectives written for the 2000-2001 School Improvement Plan
(SIP) to be inconsistent with current Board rule.
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, approve
the 2000-2001 School Improvement Plans amended to align with Board rule for
A, B, and C schools changing grade levels
as well as other schools needing assistance and intervention plans.
