MEETING AGENDA

The School Board publishes complete and summary versions of its meeting agendas. The summary agenda for the next Board meeting is provided below. Citizens may also receive the summary version by mail by calling the Department of Information Services at 995-1126.

The complete agenda may be reviewed by visiting the Citizen Information Center in room 158 of the School Board Administration Building, 1450 NE 2nd Avenue, weekdays between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm. Telephone 305-995-1128.

The agenda for regular meetings is published on the Wednesday prior to the Board meeting. The summary agenda will normally be posted here on the Thursday preceding the meeting. Revisions will generally be posted on Friday, and Tuesday PM prior to the meeting. To view a history of changes to the Agenda click here.

Speakers Supplemental List will generally be posted on Tuesday PM or Wednesday AM prior to the meeting.

PURPOSE: To discuss the opinion rendered by the Special Counsel and to take, if necessary, any appropriate action thereon. This Special Meeting conducted by The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, is provided in accordance with Section 1001.372, Florida Statutes. An agenda will be available by 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2008. A citizen wishing to speak to the agenda should submit a written request to the Superintendent of Schools, Room 158, 1450 N.E. SP-1 RATIFICATION OF CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS (withdrawn)

ACTION PROPOSED BY MR. AGUSTIN J. BARRERA, CHAIR: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida approve the Superintendent of Schools' employment agreement and employ Alberto Carvalho as its Superintendent of Schools in accordance with the terms and conditions of the contract.

SP-2 APPOINTMENTS AND LATERAL ASSIGNMENTS OF MANAGERIAL EXEMPT, PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL PERSONNEL FOR 2008-2009 (revised)

RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, approve the recommendations as set forth in the agenda item for appointments and lateral transfers to be effective September 18, 2008, or as soon thereafter as can be facilitated, with the exception of the effective dates as noted throughout the item.

SP-3 REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. 08-87 OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, ENDORSING THE PARTICIPATION OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN A DRIVE TO COLLECT CLOTHING AND NON-PERISHABLE FOODS TO ASSIST IN RELIEF EFFORTS FOR AREAS AFFECTED BY THE HURRICANE SEASON (good cause)

ACTION PROPOSED BY DR. WILBERT "TEE" HOLLOWAY: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, approve Resolution No. 08-87, of The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, endorsing the participation of Miami-Dade County Public Schools in a drive to collect clothing and non-perishable foods to assist in relief efforts for areas affected by the hurricane season.
