Holmes, DOAH Case No. 02-2820, adopting the Administrative Law Judge's Recommended Order sustaining the suspension without pay of Patricia A. Holmes, and terminating her employment with The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, as of June 19, 2002.

103,732 C-3 AUTHORIZED The settlement of the pending Motion for Award of Attorney’s Fees and Costs, in the case of United Teachers of Dade and Annette Katz v. Merrett R. Stierheim and The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, USDC, Case No. 02-21932-CIV-UNGARO-BENAGES, for the sum of $19,500. The settlement will release the School Board from all claims including future damages, and for any additional claims for attorney's fees and costs.

103,733 C-4 DIRECTED The Superintendent of Schools, or his designee, and the School Board Attorney to pursue initiatives on behalf of the School Board to effect tax relief for seniors, as follows:

1. prepare the necessary resolution urging the Florida Legislature to propose a constitutional amendment for an additional exemption to be applied against the School District’s share of ad valorem taxes up to $25,000 on the principal residence of low-income seniors meeting the requirements set forth in Art. VII, Sec. 6(f) of the Florida Constitution; and or

2. Include in the Board’s 2003 State Legislative Program a proposal to have the State Legislature adopt legislation that would amend state statutes to enable a school district, at its option, to allow a rebate to low-income seniors meeting certain requirements as defined in state statutes.

The term of the renewal option period will commence April 26, 2003, and will end April 25, 2004. All other terms and conditions of the lease agreement will remain unchanged.

103,748 E-2 AUTHORIZED The execution of a lease amendment with Hosanna Community Baptist Church for the use of parking facilities at Olinda Elementary School, in order to change the date by which the Church must secure a CO, from February 13, 2003 to December 13, 2004. All other terms and conditions of the lease agreement will remain unchanged.

103,749 E-3 AUTHORIZED The execution of a lease amendment with the South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union, to allow the Credit Union to pay rent in advance for the use of Board-owned land at 5780 N.W. 158 Street, at the discounted rate of $900,000.
