C-1 CONFIRMATION OF A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO PROVIDE ACTIVITIES FOR THE 1999-2000 MIAMI BOOK FAIR INTERNATIONAL, AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $200,000, FROM NOVEMBER 15, 1999 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2000
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, confirm a contractual agreement with Miami-Dade Community College to provide activities for the 1999-2000 Miami Book Fair International, at a cost not to exceed $200,000, from November 15, 1999 through June 30, 2000. The appropriation for this contract is included in the General Fund of the 1999-2000 Adopted Budget.
C-2 MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA REGARDING THE CONSTRUCTION AT THE NEW SITE TO HOUSE THE NEW WORLD SCHOOL OF THE ARTS
The intention of this item is to ascertain agreement from the three executive officers regarding the acceptance of the facilities list for construction at the new site to house the New World School of the Arts and develop an understanding of each partner's responsibility. Additional details of this Board Agenda Item will be available prior to the Board Meeting of November 17,1999.
C-3 REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO SUBMIT A JOINT-USE PROPOSAL BY MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, COCONUT GROVE PLAYHOUSE AND THE THEODORE R. GIBSON MEMORIAL FUND, INC., TO THE FLORIDA LEGISLATURE TO SECURE FUNDS TO BUILD/REMODEL A SCHOOL IN WEST COCONUT GROVE, FLORIDA, WITH SPECIALIZED CURRICULUM AREAS AT THE COCONUT GROVE PLAYHOUSE
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorize the Superintendent to submit a joint-use proposal by Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Coconut Grove Playhouse, and the Theodore R. Gibson memorial Fund, Inc., tot he Florida Legislature to secure funds to build/remodel a school in West Coconut Grove, Florida. There is no cost to the district relative to this cooperative agreement.
C-11 REQUEST TO CONFIRM THE RENEWAL OF A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT WITH WILLOW CSN INC., TO PROVIDE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS WITH FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $51,733, FOR AN EDUCATIONAL SPECIALIST TO MONITOR TRAINING EFFORTS FOR THE WILLOW NETWORK, FROM JULY 1, 1999 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2000
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida confirm the renewal of a contractual agreement with Willow CSN Inc., (Willow) to provide Miami-Dade County Public Schools with funds, in an amount not to exceed $51,733, for an educational specialist to monitor training efforts for the Willow Network, from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000. No local funds are required.
C-12 REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT WITH THE AMERICA WORKS PARTNERSHIP FOR MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO PROVIDE INTENSIVE TRAINING AND JOB-PLACEMENT SERVICES TO WELFARE-TO-WORK PARTICIPANTS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $3,800 PER INDIVIDUAL BASED ON PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES, FROM NOVEMBER 19, 1999 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2001
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorize the Superintendent to enter into a contractual agreement with the America Works Partnership (AWP) for Miami-Dade County Public Schools to provide intensive training and job-placement services to Welfare-To-Work participants, in an amount not to exceed $3,800 per individual based on performance outcomes, from November 19, 1999 through June 30, 2001. No local funds are required.
C-13 REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT TO ACCEPT ADDITIONAL FUNDS FROM THE MIAMI-DADE/MONROE WAGES COALITION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,500,000, FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT OF $3,000,000, PURSUANT TO AN AGREEMENT APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, ON JUNE 23, 1999, PROVIDING FOR CAREER MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO WAGES CUSTOMERS FROM JULY 1, 1999 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2000; TO ACT AS FISCAL AGENT FOR THE ADDITIONAL FUNDS; AND TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH MIAMI-DADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR THE DISBURSEMENT OF THE FUNDS
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorize the Superintendent to:
1. accept additional funds from the Miami-Dade/Monroe WAGES Coalition, in an amount not to exceed $1,500,000, for a total amount of $3,000,000, pursuant to an agreement approved by The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, on June 23, 1999, providing for career management services to WAGES customers from July 1, 1999 through June 30, 2000;
2. act as fiscal agent for the additional funds; and
3. enter into a memorandum of understanding with Miami-Dade Community College for the disbursement of the funds.
No local funds are required.
C-21 REQUEST FOR AUTHORIZATION FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT TO ENTER INTO A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI'S RIVER OF LIFE, INC., TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES FOR 25 SCHOOL-AGED STUDENTS, FROM NOVEMBER 18, 1999 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2000
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorize the Superintendent to enter into a cooperative agreement with Miami's River of Life, Inc., to provide educational services for 25 school-aged students, from November 18, 1999 through June 30, 2000. The funds necessary for implementing the Miami-Dade County Public Schools portion of this agreement will be provided by FTE generated through the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP). No exchange of funds is required.
C-22 REQUEST AUTHORIZATION FOR THE SUPERINTENDENT TO ACCEPT A GRANT AWARD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $22,967; AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF MIAMI BEACH TO UNDERWRITE COMMUNITY AND ADULT EDUCATION FEES FOR MIAMI BEACH FAMILIES WITH LOW OR MODERATE INCOMES WHO ENROLL IN CLASSES AT FIENBERG/FISHER ADULT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTER, FROM OCTOBER 1, 1999 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2000
RECOMMENDED: That The School Board of Miami-Dade County, Florida, authorize the Superintendent to:
1. accept a grant award in the amount of $22, 957; and
2. enter into a contractual agreement with the City of Miami Beach, Department of Economic Development, to underwrite community and adult education fees for Miami Beach families with low or moderate incomes who enroll in classes at Fienberg/Fisher Adult and Community Education Center, from October 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000.

22, 1999 and will end November 21, 2000. All other terms and

Florida, authorize the Superintendent to initiate rulemaking
proceedings in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act to
amend School Board Rule 6Gx13-3B-1.061, Snacks and
Beverages-Selling.
